Like so many of my buckets and tubs the Butter Churn was a customer request. The original version had steel bands, and now I offer these with hempex rope bands.
Research shows the dasher ( plunger) is the Suffolk pattern from the 1500s, there is an alternative Hampshire version if you prefer.
This is a working historically accurate butter churn, but be warned it wouldn't comply with modern hygiene standards. I make these from Beech which is a food safe timber, but you make your own mind up if your going to use it to make butter.
